Where Will You Be?

When you get where you're going . . . where will you be?
We're all headed somewhere, but we must choose our direction carefully. So often, we get sidetracked with our own plans and before we know it, we're headed in the wrong direction—away from God.

If you get where you're going, where will you be?

Where are you headed? Are you far from God, wandering without hope? Have you taken a wrong turn and need to get on the right path? God is waiting to help you through the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. All you have to do is call on Him, and He will direct your path. If you want to have a relationship with Jesus and get on the path to heaven, take these next steps and start heading in the right direction.

Admit Your Sin
First, you must admit that you are a sinner—genuinely be sorry for your sin and be willing to turn from it. Because of Adam "sin entered into the world . . . and [spiritual] death passed upon all men, for . . . all have sinned" (Romans 5:12). Our sin separates us from God and carries a serious penalty. According to Romans 6:23, "The wages of sin is death [eternal separation from the love and mercy of God]." The only way to emerge from this sinful state of spiritual death is to be "quickened" or made alive through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:1).

Abandon Your Efforts
Second, you must abandon any efforts to save yourself. If we could save ourselves, Jesus' death would not have been necessary! Even "getting religion" cannot gain for you forgiveness or get you to heaven. The Bible says it is "not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His [God's] mercy He saved us" (Titus 3:5). Salvation is solely by God's grace, "not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Acknowledge Christ's Payment
What you cannot do for yourself, Jesus Christ has done for you! "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). He died on the cross for you and then rose from the dead to prove that His payment was acceptable to God. But through faith you must acknowledge and believe this fact. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31).

Accept Christ as Your Savior
Salvation is God's gift to you. "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). When someone offers you a priceless gift, the wisest thing you can do is accept it! This very moment, you can receive God's gift of salvation by surrendering your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Right now, you can turn from your sin and make a lifetime commitment to follow Jesus and obey His commands. Friend, express your faith to God in prayer . . . you will be eternally grateful that you did!
